child therapy

I work with children and teens who have experienced or witnessed a scary event, are having a hard time with transitions, are having trouble relating to friends or family members, are experiencing grief, get caught up with perfectionism or self-doubt, or are going through a family divorce or separation. I meet each family where they are, keeping in mind cultural and socio-economic factors.

Through play therapy, children learn to communicate with others, express feelings, modify behavior, develop problem-solving skills, and learn new ways of relating to others. Play provides a safe distance from their obstacles for them to process and move forward. I incorporate play therapy, expressive arts, and sandplay into my work with children. It’s fun and creative and can make big scary challenges more manageable.
